CAEP Accountability Measures
The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, 1140 19th St NW, Suite 400 Washington, DC 20036, (202) 223-0077) monitors how the Education Preparation Provider (EPP) publicly reports candidate performance data and other consumer information on its website. (Policy 6.01; p. 26, CAEP Accreditation Policy)
Accreditation and Program Approval:
The Alma College Teacher Education Program, designed to prepare initial-licensure level teaching candidates, is granted Accreditation by CAEP from Fall 2019 to Fall 2026, with no Areas for Improvement or Stipulations (to view which Initial Programs were part of the 2019 accreditation review, please see the “CAEP Programs” drop-down column below).
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) reviewed all certification programs in April 2019 for the Accreditation process. All teaching majors and minors remain approved by MDE with the EPP demonstrating “clear tracking data for candidates in each program” and “[e]xcellent MTTC and Effectiveness data overall.”
- An Elementary Education program for PK-6 grade band/s was approved in Fall 2021.
- Secondary High School (7-12) and Middle Grades (5-9) programs for Mathematics and English Language Arts were approved Fall 2023.
