Excellent facilities, outstanding performance opportunities and a talented faculty distinguish the arts at Alma College. The College offers majors in art, music, theatre and dance, but rewarding opportunities to deepen involvement with the arts are open to students from all majors. In fact, more than a third of all Alma students take part in at least one musical, theatre or dance performance each year.
The Arts
Alma College's New Media Studies major, which debuts in 2011-12, prepares students for work in emerging forms of media digital information and technology—from audio and visual arts to social media to gaming and simulation to e-text, design and Web publication. New Media Studies majors are required to complete an internship, gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Get out of the kitchen, Betty Crocker! After the bittersweet taste of college graduation, Stephanie VanSteenburg ’09 has been busy adding another layer to her cake.
Since majoring in art and design at Alma College, she has become a pastry chef and cake decorator at a bakery in Shelby Township.
