Stay Alma offers a home away from home through our unique, suite-style accommodations. Whether you’re here for an event or on business, visiting a future Scot, reconnecting as an alum, or simply exploring Mid-Michigan, our overnight stays strike the perfect balance of privacy, comfort, and community.
It’s the best of both worlds: the independence of an Airbnb with a little extra support. Our on-site team is available during office hours at the Smith Alumni House and is on call should you need anything during your stay.
Set within the peaceful, walkable campus of Alma College, you’ll enjoy modern amenities, quiet surroundings, and easy access to the charm of downtown Alma. We’ll take care of the details—so you can relax, reconnect, and enjoy your time here.

The Smith Alumni House
Located at Philadelphia and Superior Streets, the Smith Alumni House features four guest suites, each with a private bathroom. Guests share access to a first-floor kitchen and living room for a comfortable, independent stay.The house also serves as office space, with staff available 12–7 PM (hours may vary).
Small gatherings with outside guests are permitted in common areas with prior approval. All rooms must be booked, and a cleaning fee applies.
Staff may visit the common spaces daily to complete housekeeping tasks.
My stay was fabulous! The place was immaculately clean and the opportunity to have tea, regular and decaffeinated coffee was so awesome! Loved even the popcorn. What a wonderful place to stay and very well organized!

The Meyer House
For added privacy, guests can choose The Meyer House—a standalone two-bedroom bungalow located just one block from the Smith Alumni House. This fully separate space includes private accommodations such as a full kitchen, dining room, and living room, making it an ideal choice for a more independent stay.
We were pleased in every capacity! We have already decided this will be our lodging of choice next time we are ever in the area! Thanks again!

The Class of 1980/Altman House
The Altman House offers a cozy, independent stay with all the comforts of home. Located at the corner of Philadelphia and Center Streets, this house features three guest rooms—each with a private, attached bathroom. Guests share access to a first-floor living room, kitchen, and laundry room.
Small gatherings with outside guests are welcome in the common spaces with prior approval. Please note that all Altman House rooms must be booked, and an additional cleaning fee will apply.
Staff may visit the common spaces daily to complete housekeeping tasks.
…The location is super close to starbucks, an amazing local brewery and more! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Alma!

The Gelston Guest Suite
The Gelston Guest Suite offers a quiet, hotel-style experience with added privacy and convenience right on campus. This fully ADA-accessible suite features a private entrance, designated parking, and everything you need for a short, comfortable stay.
Ideal for guests who prefer a self-contained space, the suite includes a private bathroom, microwave, mini fridge, and a cozy setup with coffee, tea, and hot cocoa.
Please note: This suite does not include access to shared kitchen, living, or laundry areas.

Housekeeping, Shared Spaces & Comfort
- Stays of 4–7 nights: Guests of the Altman, Smith Alumni, and Meyer Houses will receive one extra set of fresh linens during their stay. For longer visits, you are welcome to use our complimentary on-site washer and dryer. Guests at the Gelston Guest Suite will receive one extra set of linens; please note there is no washer or dryer available in this location. Additional linen replenishments can be arranged for an extra charge.
- Daily housekeeping isn’t included, but your suite will be clean upon arrival. We ask that guests clean up after themselves in shared spaces like the kitchen and living room to help keep things tidy for everyone.
- To ensure a comfortable experience for all, temperature is centrally controlled. We keep it at a consistent, pleasant level and appreciate your understanding.

- Unlock a world of wellness with exercise amenities at the Stone Recreation Center on the Alma College Campus.
- Interested in getting some fresh air? The Fred Meijer Heartland Trail runs through campus and is a 42 mile, paved trail that connects the cities of Alma and Greenville in rural, central Michigan. It is open to non-motorized use year round.
- Find live entertainment within walking distance at the Oscar E. Remick Heritage Center.
- Attend an Alma College Athletics event.
I really enjoyed the Smith House, and the Stone Recreation Center at the college. This is what a small town should be.
