Q: Can you introduce yourself and share your major?
A: My name is Chloe Anderson. I’m a senior at Alma College majoring in Business with concentrations in Business Analytics and Business Leadership and Management.
Q: What inspired you to pursue a business degree?
A: I’ve always been fascinated by what happens behind the scenes — how organizations function and how all the pieces come together. I also love leadership roles, so studying business felt like the perfect way to explore how those skills translate into the professional world.
Q: What are your career interests after graduation?
A: I’m really drawn to the human resources field. I enjoy working with people and I’m also interested in the legal aspects of HR. I’ve completed several internships, including one this past summer with Bosch. I’m continuing in that role during the school year, and it has been an exciting opportunity to keep learning and growing.
Q: What makes Alma’s Business program stand out?
A: Even though Alma is a small college, the Business program offers a wide range of degrees and concentrations. You get the benefit of small class sizes and close relationships with faculty, but you still have plenty of academic options. That mattered to me because I have many interests—I didn’t want to focus on only one narrow area. Alma has allowed me to build experience in several business fields, which I think will help me navigate my career and any future changes.
Q: How has Model UN impacted you personally and academically?
A: Model UN has helped me grow in ways I probably don’t even fully realize yet. Before college, I was aware of world issues, but I didn’t know how to articulate why they mattered or how they connected to me. Model UN taught me what I’m passionate about and how I can contribute to global conversations.
It has also strengthened my public speaking skills and helped me feel more confident interacting with people from different backgrounds. Being part of Alma’s Model UN team is exciting — we’re the best, after all! And Dr. Hulme has been an incredible mentor and resource.
Q: You’ve also participated in the Posey Global Program. What was that experience like?
A: The Posey Global Program is truly unique. Students can apply for a fully funded grant to volunteer anywhere in the world. I’ve traveled to Sierra Leone twice to work at a childcare center, helping with daily tasks and supporting the children there. Those trips were life-changing. They broadened my worldview in a way I never could have gained by staying in Michigan.
