ALMA — Alma College is expanding summer academic opportunities for students through its partnership with Acadeum, an online course-sharing platform that connects colleges and universities nationwide.
Beginning this summer, Alma students now have access to a wide range of online courses offered through Acadeum’s Course Share Network. The partnership allows students to take approved summer courses online while earning Alma College credit, with earned grades appearing directly on their Alma transcript.
Unlike traditional transfer courses taken elsewhere during the summer, Acadeum courses are treated as Alma College courses. Students may also use the courses to improve their cumulative GPA by retaking eligible classes.
We are always looking for ways to create more flexible, student-centered pathways to success,
said Sean Burke, provost of Alma College. Our partnership with Acadeum gives students access to high-quality online courses that can help them stay on track for graduation, fulfill requirements, explore new interests and make productive use of the summer months. It’s an exciting addition to the opportunities available to Alma students.
The Acadeum network includes courses that fulfill a variety of Alma College core requirements, including writing and math competencies, Explore requirements, Themes, language preparation and select major requirements. Students can also choose from elective offerings in subjects ranging from creative writing and digital photography to sociology, public relations and social media management.
Most courses are asynchronous, giving students added flexibility to complete coursework on their own schedules, though some courses include scheduled virtual meetings. Through the partnership, students work directly with Alma College throughout the registration and billing process, making enrollment more seamless and accessible.
Eligible students can browse and request courses through the Acadeum platform using their Alma College email address.
For more information about summer courses through Acadeum, students should contact the Registrar’s Office or visit the Acadeum at Alma webpage.
