The Tartan Edge

Plaid A that includes the Alma College Tartan

The Tartan Edge is more than a scholarship. It is a commitment to ensuring students in our local community can access a meaningful education right here at home, where they are known by name, challenged to grow, and empowered to thrive.

Starting Fall 2026, new first-year and transfer students who graduated from high schools located in Gratiot, Isabella, and Montcalm counties can attend Alma College for an experience that’s affordable, personalized, and centered on their potential.

The total cost is:

$17,000

for the 26/27 academic year.

  • Tuition, room, and meals are bundled into one set price so you always know what to expect.
  • Students can use their state and /or federal aid (PELL) toward the cost.
  • This award covers the tuition cost for 2 spring terms.
  • The Tartan Edge replaces all other Alma aid.
  • To give you cost certainty, there will be a flat yearly increase of only $1,500.

Program Requirements

  • Students must maintain continuous enrollment in fall and winter semesters.
  • Students must file the FAFSA for their entering year.

Renewal Requirements
