Explore the Curriculum

Learn more about the fundamental courses that will offer a roadmap for your academic growth and expertise development.

Help athletes reach peak performance.

In our pre-sports medicine track, you’ll study the science of injury and pathology. Immerse yourself in key areas of the discipline, including orthopedics, exercise physiology and nutrition.

You’ll also get hands-on experience in research projects, laboratory classes and Alma’s community exercise program.

Some roles within sports medicine — such as chiropractors or sports medicine physicians — require you to obtain a doctoral degree. Should you decide to pursue this path, you’ll have access to our pre-health professions committee (PHPC).

This team of faculty and staff provides mentorship, application support and letters of evaluation to pre-health students. You can also take advantage of free MCAT preparation through our partnership with Kaplan, a leading test preparation provider.

What You Need to Know

Sports medicine can open up a range of careers. Our alumni go on to work as athletic trainers, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, nutritionists, physical therapists and sports medicine physicians.

Whatever route you choose, your skills will be in high demand. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs available to athletic trainers will increase by 17% in the next eight years. This is much faster than the national average growth rate of 5%.
