Acadeum at Alma

Alma College offers access to Acadeum Consortial Courses. This partnership allows students to take pre-approved online courses from other accredited institutions while still earning credit at our college.

Why take an Acadeum Course?

Students may find Acadeum courses useful for:

Fulfilling degree requirements when a needed course is not offered in the current term.
Academic recovery for students needing to retake a course or make up missing course credits.
Taking prerequisites for an upcoming course.

Acadeum courses appear on your Alma College transcript and can be used to maintain full-time status.

How it Works

Browse Courses: Students can access a list of pre-approved courses through the Acadeum portal. Information on the Alma course equivalency is visible in the course details.
Enroll: Students enroll for Acadeum courses within the portal. This will create a request with the Alma College Registrar’s Office.
Self-Service: After enrollment in the portal, courses will appear in your fall / winter / summer schedule and degree progress in Self-Service. Within Self-Service the course will appear according to its Wooster course equivalent, rather than the course title from the other institution.
There is no need to apply separately to the teaching institution. Acadeum and Alma College will process your full enrollment into the course at the other college or university.
Complete Coursework: Students complete their course online through the teaching institution. This means that the course will not appear in the Alma Canvas site, but within the respective College’s Learning Management System. Each teaching institution will provide you with instructions for accessing the course.
Add/Drop Dates: The add/drop dates are set by the teaching institution, not Alma College. Students should review the syllabus closely for any information on drop deadlines and pay close attention to all communications from the teaching institution. Students should engage with their course in the first week of the class.

Financial Information

Tuition: Fall / Winter / Summer courses taken through Acadeum cost $1,600 per course.
Billing: All costs and bills will be processed by Alma, not the teaching institution. You will be billed through your Alma account.
Refund Schedule: All courses are non-refundable after the published drop date for each course.
Financial Aid: consortial courses may be eligible for federal financial aid unless utilizing specific Veteran Benefits. Check with the Financial Aid Office at finaid@alma.edu.

Students interested in Acadeum courses should visit the Alma Acadeum Portal to view available courses and enroll.

Important Note: The Acadeum Consortial program allows students to easily access and transfer courses from outside Alma College. As such, course policies and practices will be set by the teaching institution, rather than Alma College.
