Christopher Kauffold

Christopher Kauffold was a band director in the Michigan public schools from 1989 thru 2019, the last 25 years of which were in the Lake Shore Public Schools of St. Clair Shores, MI. While there, he earned “Teacher of the Year” honors at Kennedy M.S. twice, “Teacher of the Week” for the Detroit News and Macomb Daily and “Band Director of the Year” from MSBOA District 16. He’s directed honor bands and honor jazz ensembles throughout Michigan.

His award-winning ensembles at all levels have performed throughout the eastern United States. While at Kennedy MS, the award-winning jazz ensemble performed at the Detroit International Jazz Festival 8 times, the Michigan Music Conference, and even WJR radio on the Mitch Albom Radio Program. As a composer, Mr. Kauffold’s works are performed by many various ensembles in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Detroit International Jazz Festival and the Honolulu Jazz Festival, just to name a few. As a performer, he’s performed nationally and abroad with various jazz artists and ensembles and been musical director for many groups including his own jazz orchestra, “Eastside Brigade,” from Detroit, MI.
