Alma College in Alma, Michigan invites applications for a two-year full-time Instructor (MA completed) or Lecturer (PhD completed) of History beginning August 2024 for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

The History Department seeks a candidate who will be able to teach a wide range of courses on post-1800 Europe and courses on Africa. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach European history within a global context and a second field in African history. Especially welcome are candidates interested in designing courses that incorporate public policy and/or museum studies. Teaching responsibilities include introductory to upper-level courses required of history and history teaching majors that also serve the college’s general education program, supervising students’ research and independent studies, and possibly student advising in the second year. The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and engagement in students’ research. Typical teaching load is six units per year.
