POSITION SUMMARY:
Alma College seeks a dedicated and energetic Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach to join our staff and support the continued growth of Scot Volleyball. This position assists the head coach in all aspects of program operation, including coaching, recruiting, training, scouting, and student-athlete development. The successful candidate will model the values of Alma College, promote a positive team culture, and contribute to the overall mission of NCAA Division III athletics.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
• Reports to the head volleyball coach
• Supervises student assistants
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- may include, but not limited to the following
• Assist in overseeing all aspects of the program, including practices, competition and scheduling.
• Assist in the recruiting plan of the program, evaluate and recruit qualified student athletes.
• Assist with creating an environment that supports student-athlete growth, well-being, and academic success
• Assist with film analysis, scouting reports, and match preparation
• Assist with camps, clinics, and fundraising activities to enhance program.
• Participate in travel planning, equipment management, and administrative tasks related to program operations.
• Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the College, the MIAA, and the NCAA with the utmost integrity.
• Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attend department meetings and activities, and always represents the College positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public.
• Other duties as assigned by head volleyball coach or athletics director
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Collegiate level playing and/or coaching experience
• Ability to work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, and campus partners
• Ability to work evenings and weekends, along with travel
• A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III athletics
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable record
• Ability to fulfill essential function of the position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of NCAA Division III and MIAA compliance and conference rules, and an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophy.
• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
