POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Department at Alma College, Alma, Michigan invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2024. Applicants must be a licensed CPA, have a master’s degree in accounting or an MBA prior to the start date, and teaching experience.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
The department seeks a candidate who will be able to teach a wide range of courses in accounting, including the following: Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Auditing and Tax. An ability to teach to the new CPA Exam standards is required as well as having strong data analytics skills. Commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and evidence of effective teaching are essential. Alma College prioritizes inclusive pedagogy, experiential learning, and opportunities for student research. The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and will engage students in research and academic advising. Typical teaching load is six units per year.
RESEARCH AND SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate is expected to establish a productive research program/scholarly agenda. Service to the college through committee work and other activities is expected of all tenure-track faculty. External service to the public and scientific community are supported.
