Assistant Professor and Director of Theatre

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alma College Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty appointment to lead and grow its small but active theatre program. This position begins in August 2024 and incorporates student instruction as well as directing department productions.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching responsibilities include acting, directing, theatre history and courses within the successful candidate’s areas of expertise. Typical teaching load is six units per year. Production responsibilities include directing up to two shows each year and mentoring student directed productions. Additional duties include mentoring students, serving on department and college committees, participating in student recruitment and advising.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A terminal theatre degree and college-level teaching experience along with professional experience, is required. Competence in one or more areas of technical theatre and experience directing classical as well as contemporary plays is preferred.
