POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions is a leader in the recruitment and admission of undergraduate transfer students to Alma College. Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting, admitting, counseling, and enrolling transfer students from both community colleges and 4-year institutions. The position will be supervised by the AVP for Graduate and Professional Admissions and supported by the Director of International Admissions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Visit community colleges and participate in recruitment and outreach activities.
• Managing territorial responsibilities including travel within Michigan and targeted areas outside of the state.
• Support the recruitment of international students enrolled in US universities and community colleges.
• Organize recruitment events both virtually and in person to meet with prospective students and families to promote undergraduate programs. Assess the impact of recruitment strategies.
• Manage the admissions funnel to reach admission goals for both domestic and international students, working in collaboration with the Director of International Admissions.
• Assess the effectiveness of current recruitment strategies for the transfer market.
• Develop strategies and actions to address barriers to enrollment.
• Develop collaborative relationships with community college advisors and faculty.
• Participate in group presentations both on and off campus.
• Be knowledgeable on current financial aid options for transfer students; work closely with the Financial Aid staff who provide financial aid counseling to students and families.
• Collaborate internally with athletic coaches and admissions-related offices to engage and enroll students.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement effective recruitment strategies, assess international credentials, and ensure a seamless transition for admitted international students.
• Assisting with transfer projects in the office.

The position will be responsible, along with the Director of International Admissions, for recruiting undergraduate transfer applicants, providing guidance and support throughout the admissions process, and contributing to the overall transfer student enrollment goals.

Stay current on global, national, and local trends and campus news that could impact the prospective/applicant/admitted student. Use this information to make informed decisions about engaging in the admission process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in admissions, or related field within higher education or an educational non-profit.
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse populations, including prospective students, parents, international partners, and campus stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Proficiency in using admissions management systems (Slate), CRM tools, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Analytical and data management skills with the ability to interpret and present admissions funnel data effectively.
• Willingness to travel for recruitment purposes.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and, as necessary, to assist with oncampus/virtual events and recruiting duties off campus in non-standard work hours.
• Commitment to promoting diversity and global perspectives in the student body.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
