ALMA — Alma College has once again been recognized among the best colleges in the Midwest, earning the No. 6 spot in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025–26 “Best Regional Colleges Midwest” rankings — the highest placement of any school in Michigan.

Alma also earned distinction in supporting veterans’ education, ranking No. 8 in the Midwest in “Best Colleges for Veterans,” tied for No. 16 in “Social Mobility,” and No. 27 in “Best Value Schools.”

“We’re grateful for this recognition from U.S. News & World Report,” said Alma College President Joe Odenwald. “It’s a testament to the creativity, commitment, and excellence of our faculty and staff as they equip students for purposeful lives and rewarding careers.”

The annual rankings evaluate nearly 1,700 colleges and universities nationwide, using up to 17 measures of academic quality across 13 indicators. Data is drawn from both institutional reporting and third-party sources, and schools remain eligible to be ranked regardless of their participation in U.S. News surveys.

“For over four decades, Best Colleges has served as a trusted and data-backed resource for students and families navigating the complex college search process,” said LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News. “Over the years, Best Colleges has evolved into a comprehensive tool that reflects the changing landscape of higher education, providing prospective students with a crucial starting point to identify schools that align with their academic and personal goals.”
