The 2024 conference will be held at Lawrence Technological University, March 8, 2024.

Each year, the Michigan Academy organizes a conference where members present their scholarly work to peers and learn what research projects their colleagues are undertaking.

From the Southwest and Detroit Metro Airport:

Follow I-94 East to the northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39). Exit onto northbound M-10 (Northwestern Highway/Lodge Freeway). Proceed north and exit at Ten Mile Road/Evergreen Road. Take the Northwestern Highway Service Drive to Ten Mile Road. Turn left onto Ten Mile Road. The campus entrance is on the right.

From the West and Ann Arbor (via I-94 and M-14):

Follow I-94 East to eastbound M-14. Continue on M-14 to northbound I-275. Take I-275 North to I-696 East. Proceed east on I-696 to southbound M-10 (Northwestern Highway/Lodge Freeway). Exit at Ten Mile Road/Evergreen Road. Turn right onto Ten Mile Road. The campus entrance is on the right.

From the Northwest and Lansing (via I-96 and I-696):

Follow I-96 East to I-696. Proceed east on I-696 to southbound M-10 (Northwestern Highway/Lodge Freeway). Exit at Ten Mile Road/Evergreen Road. Turn right onto Ten Mile Road. The campus entrance is on the right.

From the North (via I-75):

From the East (via I-696):

Session Schedule

Morning check-in begins at 7:30 in the Buell Building Atrium, ground floor (building 5 on the campus map).

If you have pre-registered, check-in at the traditional check-in tables.
If you have not pre-registered, come directly to the Academy table to register on-site (credit card only).

Keynote Speaker

Scott Gerald Shall, RA, is a Professor of Architecture in the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) and the founding principal of the architectural practice houm (ourhoum.com). Prior to joining LTU, Shall was an Assistant Professor of Architecture in the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and the School of Art and Design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Shall is also the founding director of the International Design Clinic (IDC, www.internationaldesignclinic.org), a registered non-profit that realizes crowd-sourced architecture and virally-propagated creative action with communities in need around the world. Since founding the IDC in 2006, Shall has worked through this organization to complete over two dozen projects on five continents, including an urban tent for the homeless made of reclaimed water bottles, a vision for education based upon borrowed resources for the migrant communities of India, educational devices based upon the vending architectures of Bolivia for kids working the streets of La Paz, and a two-dollar water filtration system.

Posters will be presented during the Interdisciplinary Poster Session from 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. Posters will only be presented in the University Technology and Learning Center, Room T210, UTLC Gallery (building 3 on the campus map).
