Biography

Come learn with Dr. Peggy Yates!

Dr. Yates’ credentials represent 33 years of experience and include being a general and special education teacher for 25 years. Her educational journey includes earning a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (Alma College), Master’s in Middle Level Education (Central Michigan University), Master’s in Learning and Behavioral Disorders (Saginaw Valley State University), Doctorate in Education (University of Michigan-Flint), Full Approval of Director of Special Education from the Michigan Department of Education, and Central Office endorsement on her administrative certificate. She is a leader in special education serving on the Special Education Advisory Board to the Michigan Department of Education and a facilitator for the revision of how special educators/paraeducators are prepared to work with students with disabilities in Michigan. Dr. Yates is a frequent national presenter for the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She has curated and instructed on-demand courses in the CEC Learning Library. Publishing multiple articles on the topic of paraeducator supervision and paraeducator-to-teacher pathways, she presents nationally/internationally on the topic. Serving locally, Dr. Yates proudly serves as the Vice President on the Alma Public Schools Board of Education.

This devoted professor is committed to training teachers and paraeducators on working with student’s disabilities.
