Biography

Dr. Luiz Barboza is a professional with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry and a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a specialization in data science and artificial intelligence education. His extensive industry experience includes leadership roles at companies such as Google, and the technical management of Data Cloud Architectures and AI/ML projects using AWS, GCP, and Azure for industries such as Healthcare, Finance, and Real Estate. As a professor in higher education since 2008, his academic and research focus, particularly as a professor at the University of Memphis, has focused on the effect of data science education on students in non-STEM fields. Dr. Barboza’s teaching at various institutions has covered subjects directly relevant to industry practice, including Data Analytics, Programming with Python and R, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, and the cloud, for which he is a Certified Instructor for leading providers GCP, AWS, and Azure.
