At Alma, our classes go beyond theory. We designed our financial economics program to furnish you with the practical skills you need to thrive after college. You’ll explore quantitative techniques and use software to build financial models and determine the value of assets.

You’ll also apply what you’re learning to real-world situations. Students majoring in financial economics must complete an internship, so you’ll already have experience before you graduate.

What You Need to Know

As a financial economics major, you’ll graduate into a booming job market. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment in the financial sector will rise 9% over the next decade, outpacing the average growth rate.

Your expertise will prepare you for work in various finance roles, including asset management, personal finance and financial planning, financial analysis, corporate finance and investment banking. Or, you can pursue advanced education. Alma students in similar programs have gone on to prestigious institutions such as the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, the University of Notre Dame, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Northwestern University.
