ALMA — The Alma College cheer and dance programs brought home a pair of national championships from Daytona Beach, Fla., continuing a dominant run on the national stage.
The Alma dance team secured its third consecutive NDA Hip Hop Division III national championship, delivering a standout finals performance with a score of 91.3429. Entering finals with the top preliminary score in the division, the Scots lived up to expectations, finishing more than six points ahead of second-place Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (84.6571). New York University placed third (83.5429), followed by Bridgewater State University (79.3429) and Southern Virginia University (77.1143).
Alma’s routine earned zero deductions — matching the rest of the finals field — and showcased the precision and performance quality that have become hallmarks of the program’s sustained success.
Not to be outdone, the Alma cheer team successfully defended its NCA Spirit Rally Division III national championship, earning a finals score of 92.825. The Scots finished five points ahead of runner-up East Texas Baptist University (87.8125), with Penn State Behrend taking third (85.275). Tufts University (78.325) and Central College (77.475) rounded out the top five.
Together, the two titles add to an already historic season for Alma’s spirit programs and reinforce the college’s reputation for excellence in competitive cheer and dance.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the remainder of the academic year, with the cheer program preparing for STUNT national competition in Oklahoma next week. Additional details on matchups and scheduling will be available soon on almascots.com.
