POSITION SUMMARY:
Alma College is seeking a Certification Officer, Accreditation Coordinator, and TK20 Administrator to support the operational, accreditation, and compliance functions of its educator preparation programs. This is a full-time, 12-month, 40-hour-per-week administrative position eligible for remote work, with frequent participation in synchronous meetings required. The role is essential in ensuring accurate and efficient student certification, maintaining compliance with state and national accreditation standards, and managing the college’s assessment system to support continuous program improvement. Although the position is intended to be fully remote, the effectiveness of the remote structure will be evaluated regularly. The College reserves the right to require periodic face-to-face engagement or transition to a hybrid model based on institutional needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Certification Officer:
- Verify licensure and program completion for teacher candidates in accordance with Michigan certification requirements.
- Serve as liaison between Alma College and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE).
- Monitor and implement updates related to MDE policy, certification tests, and endorsement procedures.
- Guide students and alumni through the certification and renewal process across all programs.
Accreditation Coordinator:
- Support the Education Department on activities related to state and national accreditation bodies, including annual reports, self-studies, site visits, and evidence collection.
- Support the Education Department in continuous improvement and data-driven decision making in alignment with accreditation standards.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and college leadership to ensure program quality and compliance.
TK20 Administrator (Data Management System):
- Serve as the administrator for TK20 (Watermark), ensuring accurate data input, template management, and user support.
- Manage system access for students, faculty, and staff and provide onboarding and technical training.
- Collect and disaggregate assessment and accreditation data for internal and external reporting.
- Ensure assessment systems align with program standards, student learning outcomes, and accreditation benchmarks.
- Additional reporting may also be needed to ensure program compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 3 years of experience in teacher education, accreditation, or licensure operations.
- Knowledge of state certification processes, preferably in Michigan.
- Experience with accreditation systems (CAEP preferred) and electronic data platforms (TK20, Watermark, or similar).
- Strong written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate effectively with a dispersed team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in an Education-related field.
- Prior involvement in preparing accreditation reports and self-studies.
- Proficiency in analyzing and reporting assessment data for continuous improvement.
- Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed during accreditation cycles or state reporting deadlines.
- Flexibility, reliability, and independent time management are essential.
