Jacob Salisbury

Jake started working as an admissions representative in July 2025. They love getting to know prospective students and watching their connection to Alma College develop into a life-changing decision to become a Scot! Their territory is Northeast Michigan.

B.M.E, Summa Cum Laude, K-12 Music Education, Secondary Choral Music Education focus. Central Michigan University, 2021.
M.S, K-12 Educational Policy, Johns Hopkins University, currently in progress.

Professional Experience
Jake has spent their life pursuing a career in education. Prior to their Admissions Counseling position, Jake worked for 4 years as the Director of Choirs and Theater at Gladwin Community schools teaching 6-12 grade choir and theater as well as directing two productions a year. Although they have a deep love for secondary education, Jake has always dreamed of working in higher education. Alma is that dream come true!
Jake also serves as the Artistic Director of Harmony Diversity Choir, a Bay-area community choir of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and allies seeking to spread hope, resilience, and visibility through storytelling and song. A local singer, storyteller, and performing artist, Jake also has performing and directing credits at Midland’s Creative 360, Midland Center for the Arts, River Magnus Productions, and Elite Arts Dance Company.

Why I Love Alma
Jake loves Alma because their life-long passion has been education, and Alma does it right! They particularly love Alma’s liberal arts framework, exploratory curriculums, and emphasis on experiential learning because these add up to provide one of the strongest comprehensive undergraduate educations in the Midwest. Jake also loves the community that Alma College provides: no matter who you are, you are welcomed into the Scots family and celebrated for your unique contributions. Jake feels there really is no place like Alma College!

Outside the College
Outside of Alma College and their professional performance career, Jake loves spending time with their wife Kailyn exploring nature, keeping up on red carpet fashion, listening to live music, and cuddling their cats!
