Updating Password for Mac Mail and Calendar
We have determined there will be fewer complications to have users delete your Mac Mail and Calendar accounts from your computer than updating the password. You will not lose any emails or appointments doing this. These instructions were done on an iMac with OS X 10.9. Instructions may differ for users who use older versions of OS X.
- Click the “Apple” the upper left corner and click “System Preferences”
- Click “Internet Accounts”
- Click your email account to select then click “-“ and click “OK” to delete, then click your calendar account to select then click “-“ and click “OK” to delete
- Your Mac Mail and Calendar accounts are now deleted
- Click “Add Other Account…”
- Click “Add a Mail Account” radio button and click “create”
- Enter your name, email address and password, and click “Create”
- You will receive the message “Account Must be Created Manually”, click “Next”
- Keep “IMAP” highlighted
“Mail Server:” enter mail.alma.edu
“User Name” enter username@alma.edu
*MAKE SURE that you add the “@alma.edu” after your User Name
Do not make any changes to the password field
Click “Next” - “SMTP Server:” enter mail.alma.edu
“User Name” enter username@alma.edu
*MAKE SURE that you add the “@alma.edu” after your User Name
“Password:” enter your password
Click “Create” - Click “+”
- “Add Other Account…”
- Click the radio button for “Add CalDAV Account” and click “Create…”
- “Account type:” change to “Manual”
“User Name:” enter username@alma.edu
*MAKE SURE that you add the “@alma.edu” after your User Name
“Password:” enter password
“Server Address:” enter mail.alma.edu - Mac Mail and Calendar accounts have been recreated
