The Not-So-Great Lakes Camp
About the Camp
Engage with professors and Alma College research students, as well as officials from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection Agency in collecting field samples and running analyses on the watersheds of the Great Lakes. Students will:
- Enjoy field trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac Island, Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, as well as other places from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron.
- Use state-of-the-art video production equipment to tell a persuasive and science-based story about the Great Lakes which will be made available to lawmakers and regulatory officials, as well as college students taking introductory environmental courses.
Open to current high school students.
Students will be on campus from June 16 - June 27, 2019
This experience costs $500 per student. Room and board, 3 college credits, and all activities are included in this price.
