Assistant Competitive Cheer/STUNT Coach – 40736

FLSA EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: Salary; Exempt; Administrative; Part time

DEPARTMENT: Athletics

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position assists the head coach with the intercollegiate cheer and STUNT program including but not limited to coaching, recruiting qualified student-athletes, fundraising, camps, developing practice schedules, building community support for the program, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, and knowledgeable of applicable rules.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:

This position reports to the head cheer/stunt coach and has no supervisory responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – may include, but not limited to the following:

Grade and Attendance Tracking

  • Help monitor and collect weekly study logs
  • Meet with athletes on study logs weekly
  • Hold weekly study tables for all athletes to attend
  • Enforce contact hours and help schedule them
  • Work with CSO to help struggling students
  • Communicate any academic concerns with head coach

Weight Room Tracking

  • Help monitor and track weekly lifts
  • Ensure that all members are completing lifts
  • Help schedule make-up lifts for athletes with conflicts
  • Communicate with strength coordinator
  • Communicate concerns with head coach immediately

Community Service Coordination

  • Assist in planning activities
  • Help track community service hours of team

Inventory Management

  • Track inventory of team gear and supplies
  • Keep accurate records of distributed gear
  • Help collect and wash gear after return

Clinics and Events

  • Work weekend games, clinics, and fundraisers
  • Assist in planning and execution of events

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate level playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Recruiting ability and demonstrated commitment or experience working with diverse populations.
  • Must be willing to actively participate in practices and must be able to work weekends/evenings and travel.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III and MIAA compliance and conference rules, and an understanding of the NCAA Division III student athlete philosophy.
  • Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and oral skills, knowledge of the sport
