Matthew Smith

Matthew J. Smith is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Alma College. He specializes in the study of race, religion, and U.S. empire, with overlapping interests in gender/sexuality, science & technology, and the environmental humanities. He is currently working on a book manuscript on the racial science of trans-imperial Protestant Missionary networks in the late 19th - early 20th centuries.
