Cera Babb is a faculty member of the Alma College Music Department where she conducts the Chorale and teaches undergraduate courses in Music Education, Music History, Choral Pedagogy, and Vocal Pedagogy. She is also a third-year graduate student at Michigan State University where she is pursuing a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting (anticipated Spring 2022) and works with choral ensembles and undergraduate classes.
An active conductor and presenter in her community, Cera currently conducts at FPC-Holt where she started a virtual choir program that made its debut in the 2020 Michigan ACDA Virtual Showcase. Cera also served as the Artistic Advisor to the Motet Singers in Oregon (2017-2019) and was the guest conductor for the Success Academy Honors Chorus Festival in New York (2019).
Cera is the recipient of the Robert A. Harris Award for Excellence in Choral Performance (2020) and the Charles K. Smith Endowed Fellowship in Graduate Choral Conducting (2020). Before returning to graduate school, Cera taught in Delaware and was honored with the Johns Award for Excellence in Teaching (2015). Cera has a master’s degree from the University of Oregon, where she earned the Graduate Employee Award of Excellence in Ensemble Teaching (2019), and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.
