What is your current career/professional role?
Cloud Advisory Senior Analyst at Accenture
My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is:
There are so many memories to think back on. I would say overall, some of the best memories I had were sitting in the library at Highland Java. Being at Java with friends, for a meeting or just to hangout out, developed into some of the closest relationships I have built. For me, that corner in the library was one of the most important and impactful places I still look back on today.
Statement about how Alma impacted your personal and professional life since graduating.
Part of Alma College’s mission is to prepare graduates to think critically and I have realized just how true this is. Since graduating Alma, I received my masters from CICS at BSU which lead me to my current career. I believe that my success in my masters and my career stems from this one core principle, to think critically. Alma gave me the foundation needed in order to solve complex problems professionally. I believe from the classes, organizations, service opportunities and travel that I took advantage of at Alma, all contributed to developing a mentality to think through situations, create a solution and executive efficiently. Personally, the relationships that Alma fosters are incredible. I have made life long friends, been welcomed into the families of professors and staff and now I will be getting married this year to another Alma alumna. Alma’s success is its people you meet and the relationships you make. This stands true for me.
What current service and/or philanthropy activity are you involved in?
I work with a local church in Chicago to raise money for different organizations they support, such as the homeless, providing resources to start careers, and many others.
Advice I would give a new graduate:
Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. Alma will push you to be better all the time but in order to reach your full potential, you need to go outside of your box and take full advantage of the support system along the way!
What would you say to a prospective student and their family who was trying to decide if Alma was right for them?
Alma College will change you life. You may not realize it for the next 5 - 10 years but from the amazing opportunities to meet people and forge relationships, be involved in a number of organizations and travel the world, you will be astound by how much that small school in the middle of Michigan will impact you for the better.
Why Alma still matters to me.
I enjoy coming back to Alma to visit professors and the staff, especially in the Admissions office. I make it a priority that when called upon to help out with a prospective student, a class project or conversations with current students, I do it. It may just be a bit of time from me but the impact that I had from alumni will always be something I cherish.
