What is your current career/professional role?

My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is:

As an athlete my most vivid memory is spring break trips as a team. We would get to our teammates a lot better and become closer.
As a student my most vivid memory was presenting altitude research at honors day and the ACSM national convention.

Statement about how Alma impacted your personal and professional life since graduating.

Alma prepared me to take on graduate school for physical therapy. In a class of 55 students I was one of only four students who previously completed cadaver dissection because of my time at Alma College. As an athlete, I learned valuable time management skills which have transitioned into my daily life both personally and professionally. Finally, I was shaped by my professors and coaches who I knew on a personal level and felt were more mentors than faculty.

What current service and/or philanthropy activity are you involved in?

I currently work in the health care industry and coach high school lacrosse where we are able to be involved in different community events.

Advice I would give a new graduate:

My advice to new graduates would be to have confidence in yourself. Once you are out of the small setting that Alma College is, it can be intimidating working for a large company or moving to a larger area. Alma College prepares all students to meet the challenges they face as long as they have confidence in themselves.

What would you say to a prospective student and their family who was trying to decide if Alma was right for them?

My advice would be to visit campus during a normal school day when there is an event happening (athletics, theater, band, etc). I took many recruiting trips over the Summer or when I was on break but what helped me make my decision to attend Alma College was the energy and comradery I felt on campus during one of my visits.

Why Alma still matters to me.

Alma still matters to me because of the friendships I made there. I am still in daily contact with many of my teammates and friends I made during my time on campus. I still support the Men’s Lacrosse Team and work with some alumni to help raise extra funding or plan events to make current athlete’s time on campus just as great as mine was.
