Gave me the confidence to approach any new problem with a solutions mindset.
My favorite place(s) on campus included:
When I wasn’t in the pool my favorite place on campus was the chemistry department where I spent my summer doing inorganic chemistry research with Mara Jones, Ian Harrier, and Jeff Beck for Dr. Nancy Dopke.
My favorite professor(s) included:
Dr. Nancy Dopke and Dr. Joe Beckmann.
My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is:
Meeting my future wife at “Playfair” my freshman year the first day at school and then proposing to her on our last day at Alma.
How Alma has helped with my current plan/job/graduate school/etc.:
Alma provides you with the formula to tackle complex situations. There will be many challenges and changes to your life after graduating but integrating the lessons learned in distributive courses will set you apart from the pack.
How I have given back to Alma since graduation
I have participated the Student Speed interview program, the Suit Up program, been an alumni panel speaker at Admissions events, and volunteered for Homecoming. Most of all, joining the alumni board has allowed me to be involved in the decision-making for the future of the college while continuing to stay actively engaged with future generations of Alma Scots.
Advice I would give a new graduate:
Reach out to the alumni network in your field of interest. Ask them for additional people to connect with. Follow through on connecting with people.
