Hometown:

Major(s):

Art

Type of Alma Venture experience:

Off-campus study

Summary of your experience:

I participated in the University of Dundee, Scotland’s International Summer Experience.

What did you learn as a result of this experience?

This experience was very valuable. It covered so much of Scotland with exploration of its art and culture. It brought people together from all over the world for the study of art. It was eye-opening and beautiful. I learned people are a lot more open than I thought. I am typically uncomfortable in new social interactions, but I met so many new friends while I was there. They had knowledge I did not, and while learning about them I also learned more about myself.

How has your Alma Venture solidified or altered your career goals?

The International Summer Experience at the University of Dundee helped me meet so many influential people and artists, which may help get my food in the door at some point down the line.

What advice would you give a student considering this type of Alma Venture?

I would recommend this to other art students or others who are interested in art or photography. There is a course and exhibition at the end where you can show what you learned and your experiences which was great.
