Jonathan Morley

My hometown when I was a student was:

Wyoming, MI

I graduated from Alma in:

2011

I studied:

Computer Science, Math, and Dance

I currently live in:

Chicago, IL

I am now:

a proud foster dog parent, author, and software engineer.

Since graduating from Alma:

I stayed in school and earned my MS in Computer Science from DePaul University and my MBA from the University of Michigan.

My Alma education:

provided me a crash-course for the “real world.” The experiences had, relationships made, and knowledge cultivated were all essential for my transition out of the Bubble.

My favorite place(s) on campus included:

the dance studio late-night, the occasional rooftop, and 7-11.

My favorite professor(s) included:

Dr. Mr. and Mrs. Beagley, Dr. Schneidhorst, and Carol Fike.

My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is:

the countless hours spent laughing with friends! These people are still in my life, 10 years later!

How Alma has helped with my current plan/job/graduate school/etc.:

Alma provided me a safe environment to explore my mind. The study habits, professional skills, and relationships building tools have been crucial for my two post-graduate degrees, my personal projects, and my passion for learning.

How I have given back to Alma since graduation

I’ve been a mentor for the In-City Chicago trip each and every year, donated to an RA scholarship fund (thanks, Trent!), and lived the Alma College principles in my life. Loyal hearts will cherish ever!

Advice I would give a new graduate:

Don’t ever be afraid to be interested in something… Find the thing that keeps you up at night and work that into your life. It’s okay for that excitement to fade; new opportunities are always available for your mind!
