How has your Alma Venture solidified or altered your career goals?

My Venture experience gave me a sneak peek at life after Alma College. This opportunity made me feel like I am on the right path, and gave me focus and direction for starting a senior thesis. I’ll be able to take what I’ve learned from this experience and use it to boost my resume and secure a similar opportunity in medical school after I graduate from Alma College. Cutting edge research is fun, and I hope to make it a career someday!

What was the most rewarding experience during your Alma Venture?

Venture opened my eyes to what else is out there. Lots of stories were shared that encouraged me to keep reaching for big goals, branching out and trying to make a name for myself. It also increased the overall number and caliber of my goals.

Having the ability to grow as an individual and a professional made this experience so rewarding. I met so many medical students and staff from different parts of the country with all types of different backgrounds, many of whom I am still in contact with today!

Venture also made it possible to live in the diverse city of Indianapolis, which was an awesome experience in itself. There was so much to do, and it gave me a sense of empowerment as I explored the city and lived life on my own.

What advice would you give a student considering this type of Alma Venture?
