Since graduating from Alma
I have received my MA in Education from Michigan State University, and an MA in American History and Government from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. I was a 2011 James Madison Fellow and was also named the 2015 Michigan Council for the Social Studies High School Teacher of the Year.
My Alma education
set high goals for myself and provided me with the knowledge and background to achieve them. My struggles and successes as an Alma College student taught me that I have the inner strength to overcome whatever obstacles life throws at me.
My favorite place(s) on campus included
the Heritage Center, my carrel on the 2.5 floor in the library, and the Kappa Iota house.
My favorite professors(s) included
Dr. Michael Yavenditti, Dr. James Schmidtke, Dr. Patrick Furlong, and Dr. MJJ Smith.
My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is
getting up early on Saturday football game mornings to rehearse with the Kiltie Band on the football field. I loved when there was frost that would melt everywhere except in our shadows so there was a “ghost band” still there for a few minutes after we finished rehearsal.
