Since graduating from Alma
After Alma, I went to graduate school at Wayne State University. I received my Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry in 2016.
My Alma education
Alma College has prepared me for the future in ways that I didn’t even realize until I graduated. The small class sizes at Alma allow for personal relationships between the students and the faculty which facilitates a great learning environment not available at large universities. The opportunities provided by the chemistry department above and beyond the classes also provided very important experience. The opportunity to be a T.A. as well as work in independent research labs greatly improved my resume as I prepared for life outside the “Alma College bubble”.
My favorite place(s) on campus included
DOW, Zeta Sigma house
My favorite professors(s) included
All the chemistry professors, especially Dr. Turk, who was my independent research advisor.
My most vivid/best memory of my time at Alma is
Covering Dr. Beckmann’s lab in aluminum foil as our senior prank.
