John Leppien, president of Alma-based Garr Tool, is the 2015 recipient of the Alma College Community Service Award, given annually to a non-Alma College graduate whose activities within Gratiot County positively affect the overall quality of the greater community.

“John Leppien and his wife, Cleo, have been community leaders and model citizens for many years,” says Jeff Abernathy, president of Alma College. “They have been actively involved in many community projects over the years, and John’s company is one of Alma’s most successful manufacturers, building and shipping tools for multiple industries around the world.

“We acknowledge John’s career success and are deeply grateful for his community support and involvement,” says Abernathy.

Leppien was honored at halftime of the Sept. 19th Community and Family Day football game at Bahlke Field.
