Alma College senior, Nick Wracan spends a semester in New York City working for two post-production companies. Check out the story to find out about his adventures in the Big Apple!

NMS senior Nick Wracan jumped at an opportunity of a lifetime– a semester in New York City. He is able to work within the film industry, which is right up his alley. On campus, Nick has been involved in several student productions as well as participating in 48-Hour Film Challenges.

While in NYC, Nick is working for two different companies, Post Factory NY and Rumur. Post Factory is a post-production establishment that serves as a “hotel” for film crews. Crews rent out a specific amount of rooms for a period of time while utilizing equipment and software provided by Post Factory. Nick has been able to work with the tech and audio crew for specific projects.

Simultaneously, he works at Rumur, which is an independent production studio in Brooklyn. Rumur delves into the professional film business. Nick has been able to work on editing, shoots, research and audio. Currently, he is collaborating on a sound mix for a new ESPN documentary.

However, NYC is not strictly work and no play; there’s an aspect of fun too! In the past few months, he has been given the chance to meet celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Jessie Eisenberg, Robert Redford as well as critically acclaimed casting directors and editors. While living right in the city, he has been able to see David Letterman, stand up comedy with Chris Rock as well as Tim and Eric. Needless to say, Nick is getting the experience of a lifetime while living in the Big Apple!
