Assistant Director for Transfer Recruitment

Alma College is seeking an ambitious professional looking to directly
contribute to the college’s strategic plan by growing Alma’s domestic and international transfer student enrollment. The Assistant Director for Transfer Recruitment is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of the recruitment of undergraduate transfer students with the overall goal of increased enrollment and targeted communication. The Assistant Director for Transfer Recruitment coordinates, administers, and participates in transfer
application evaluation (transfer & non-traditional), recruitment activities (college
fairs/coordinated recruitment events) and works collaboratively with other offices on campus to meet the needs of enrolling transfer students and maintain good working relationships with community colleges in Michigan and surrounding states. The Assistant Director will report to and work closely with the AVP of Graduate and Professional Enrollment to analyze all recruitment activities, approve budgets, identify recruitment opportunities, and establish partnerships in the
best interest of the College’s mission. This position requires frequent transfer recruitment travel to include day, weekend, overnight and will comprise approximately 60% of role and duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Actively recruit transfer students by attending college fairs and college visits at
community colleges, planning and hosting special recruitment events, providing
admissions presentations, reviewing admission applications, conducing one-on-one meetings with campus visitors and following up with prospective students and applicants via phone, email, text, and scheduled appointments.
• Develop relationships with community college personnel and coordinate visits to
community college campuses in collaboration with internal and external constituents.
• Assist with the development and management of articulation agreements and inform opportunities for new agreements.
• Territory management inclusive of travel to community colleges, coordinating on-campus and off-campus transfer recruitment events and programming.
• Develop familiarity with community college curricula and inform leadership on
opportunities for curriculum alignment and transfer pathways.
• Utilize Slate to inform technology-based workflows and operational plans to help
students move through the transfer admissions and enrollment processes as quickly and easily as possible.
• Work in partnership with Associate Director of International recruitment in managing application review and recruitment of transfer international students. •Assist with international student I-20 and Visa paperwork.
• Meet with prospective students for individual campus visits, educate them on program offerings, admissions criteria, financial aid process and course registration.
• Maintains proactive outreach and timely responses with applicants using all available tools.
• Evaluate dual credit, AP exams and college transcripts for an assigned territory for transfer credit.
• Contribute to communication planning and marketing materials content.
• Knowledgeable on all degree requirements and maintain the ability to advise students on their options.
• Prepares, reviews, and submits data reports as necessary.
• Remains current in the admissions fields (with emphasis on transfer students) by reading publications and participating in professional organizations and networks associated with transfer students, admission and enrollment.
• Create an annual transfer recruitment plan. Conduct appropriate research on territory to establish and support goals and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience and understanding of relational databases
• Demonstrated proficiency using Technolutions Slate
• Strong communication/counseling skills (interpersonal and written)
• Three to five years prior related admissions recruitment experience
• Ability to work effectively with administrators and faculty
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License
