Network Administrator

Alma College is currently accepting applications for consideration of a Network Administrator position with the Information Technology Services Department. The Network Administrator is responsible for data communications and network services.

Essential Duties:

  1. Provide installation and support of network systems and services.
  2. Regularly evaluate network systems and perform necessary software and firmware updates.
  3. Assist in network capacity planning, regularly reporting on utilization levels and trends.
  4. Maintain network systems consistent with current security standards and best practices.
  5. Coordinate cable television support, and support VoIP services.
  6. As part of an Infrastructure team, provide backup for all team support responsibilities.
  7. Collaborate in the department and across the campus community to implement and support network systems and services.
  8. On occasion, must work after hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, and be available on an on-call basis.
  9. Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Systems and Networking.

Position qualifications (required):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Communications, or
    alternative relevant degree and four (4) years of relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to support network systems with working knowledge of network hardware, software, and common network services and protocols.
  3. Strong analytical and communications skills.

Position qualifications (preferred):

  1. Experience with Cisco wireless, Dell Sonicwall, Bradford Network Sentry,
    HP Procurve switches, Microsoft Active Directory and Federation Services, VMWare, VoIP, and related certifications.
