The Alma College Dance Program seeks a faculty member at the rank of Lecturer to join its exciting program and forward-thinking faculty for the 2022-23 academic year. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach some or all of the following courses during the 2022-23 academic year: Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, Dance Appreciation, Afro-Brazilian Dance (or other African-diaspora form), and Beginning Choreography. In addition, candidates may teach half term courses, ideally Dance Professions and Dance & Communities. The selected candidate will choreograph two dances for the Alma College Dance Company and teach an intensive course of their choosing during the month of May 2023.
Additional faculty responsibilities include mentoring students for the Student Choreography Concert, accompanying students to the American College Dance Association conference (North East region), and helping to produce the Alma College Fall and Spring Dance Concerts.
- PhD or MFA in Dance or a related field
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Some experience performing or choreographing in a professional realm
- Commitment to teaching Dance within a liberal arts college curriculum
