Assistant Professor, Religious Studies

The Religious Studies Program at Alma College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2022.

The college seeks a candidate with a commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and an innovative scholarly agenda. Area of specialization is open, but candidates should be willing and able to offer courses on a wide range of topics in religious studies to support a minor as well as courses that will appeal to students in an inter-disciplinary general education curriculum. The ability to offer courses from both western and non-western perspectives is highly desirable. The college would have particular interests in candidates who could offer courses in areas such as African American Christianity, Religion and Diversity, and Religion and the Environment. Alma College prioritizes inclusive pedagogy, experiential learning, community engagement, and opportunities for student research. Teaching load is six units per year. A Ph.D. is required prior to the start date.
