Assistant Director/Associate Director of Out-of-State Recruitment and Outreach (Title will commensurate with final candidate’s level of experience.)

Alma College is seeking an ambitious admissions professional that is looking to directly contribute to the college’s strategic plan by increasing Alma’s out-of-state student enrollment. This role will work on the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive strategic recruitment plans for the out-of-state territory. This position will also serve as a resource and liaison for the college regarding out-of-state student needs. Salary and title are dependent upon experience and qualifications. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment and coordinates recruitment activities and programming for the out-of-state territory.

Summary of Position: Alma College is seeking an ambitious, dedicated admissions professional passionate about inspiring next year’s class of incoming students. Responsibilities of the role include directly contributing to the college’s strategic plan by increasing Alma’s out-of-state student enrollment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive strategic recruitment plans for the out-of-state territory.
  • Engage prospective students, and their families in one-on-one meetings, present to large groups, host counselor update meetings, serve as a resource and liaison for the college regarding out-of-state student needs.
  • Travel in person to high schools, hosting college day/night programs and attending various student receptions and activities. Significant travel will be required during the months of September – November and February – April and may include additional travel at other times throughout the year.
  • Create and maintain collaborative relationships with guidance counselors, parents, and students from first point of contact through final enrollment.
  • Support high school counselors, administrators, prospective students and parents in a friendly manner through prompt and consistent communication.
  • Review and evaluate application-related materials and maintain confidential student records.
  • Accurately enter all necessary data into an electronic contact management system to produce a log of inquiry and direct student follow-up through text, phone and email channels.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of multi-layered outreach related events and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Enrollment.

Related Duties include:

  • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of Alma College academic programs and offerings.
  • Participate in admissions, enrollment and retention programs for new students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with prospective students, families, and key constituents at the high school and community college level
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of admissions or other professional experience
