The Alma College Departments of Art and Design and Communication and New Media Studies seek applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Graphic Design beginning in August 2020. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching and promoting student success in a liberal arts context, demonstrate evidence of an active exhibition record and/or industry or professional work, and have an intricate knowledge of the relevant artistic media. Additional expertise in at least one of the following areas is preferred: web design, 3D modeling, or animation. Teaching responsibilities include a 3/3 load, distributed across introductory, intermediate, advanced, and capstone classes in professional practices, as well as courses that meet departmental or institutional needs, like those in the college’s general education curriculum. The position invites opportunities to work in interdisciplinary areas, design distinctive travel courses for Alma’s 4-week intensive build industry connections both nearby and afar. The Departments of Art and Design and Communication and New Media Studies work collaboratively across campus, embrace experiential learning, and seek vital connections at the intersection of theory and practice. An MFA or other related terminal degree is required prior to start date.
