Featured artist Robert McCann creates his paintings based on a variety of inspirations, including life, collages, imagination and more.

The paintings of Michigan State University faculty artist Robert McCann are on display from Nov. 4 through Dec. 5 in the Flora Kirsch Beck Gallery located inside the Clack Art Center at Alma College.

McCann, a recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship, creates his paintings based on a variety of inspirations, including life, collages, imagination and more. His artwork combines visual stories into a single piece.

Some of his work includes “Jobbers,” an extension of the larger work “Staged Revolt.” In this series he reimages wrestling in a way that stretches reality.

Previous series include, “New History Paintings,” which appeared in the Grand Rapids Art Museum in 2013, and “Putting Out Feelers.”

The closing reception will be held Thursday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the gallery.
