Tenure-Track Assistant Professor:  Digital Design Specialist (Art and New Media Studies)


The Alma College Departments of Art and Design and Communication and New Media Studies seek applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Digital Design beginning in August 2020. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching and promoting student success in a liberal arts context, demonstrate evidence of an active exhibition record and/or industry or professional work, and have an intricate knowledge of the relevant artistic media. Teaching responsibilities may include teaching introductory, intermediate, and advanced classes in Graphic Design, Web Design, and Animation; senior capstone classes in professional practices; and other courses that meet departmental or institutional needs, such as courses that contribute to the college’s general education curriculum. The Department of Art and Design offers programs with concentrations in 2D (drawing and painting), 3D (ceramics and sculpture) and Digital Design (graphic design, web design, and animation).  The Department of Communication and New Media Studies offers programs in Communication and in New Media (filmmaking, game design, and media analysis). All faculty are expected to collaborate effectively across campus, embrace experiential learning and student engagement, and be active members of the broader campus community. An MFA or other related terminal degree is required prior to start date.
