Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions and Athletics Recruitment Liaison

Alma College is seeking an admissions professional to lead the recruitment efforts for a geographic territory and to assist with campus wide athletics recruitment.  Salary and title are dependent upon experience and qualifications.  This position reports to the Senior Director of Admissions and works on the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive student recruitment plans and serves as a resource for the campus. Additionally, this position works closely with the coaching staff on athletic recruiting, recruitment training, and interdepartmental communication.

Duties include:  Interview and counsel future students and their parents on college admission requirements and the overall college selection process.  Represent and promote the college to external constituencies and participate in on and off campus Admissions activities, including a specific recruitment territory.   Provide oversight and direction for a specialized admission area and/or program.  Partner with athletics on recruiting efforts, recruitment data analysis and reporting, and promote collaboration between admissions and athletics. Work will also include targeted communication, telecounseling, and participation in admission events on and off campus.  

This position requires night and weekend work and significant travel throughout the year. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. A minimum of two years of admissions or other professional experience
  3. A minimum of one year of experience with athletic recruitment
  4. Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  5. Ability to connect and build relationships with prospective students and families
  6. A valid driver’s license and good driving record
  7. Self-motivated and goal oriented
  8. Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. A minimum of three years of admissions or other professional experience
  2. A minimum of three years of experience with athletic recruitment
