Festival of Carols Celebrates Traditional Music of Christmas

For 25 years, the annual Festival of Carols at Alma College has featured the traditional music and sacred carols of the Christmas season.

The choral tradition continues again this year.

The approximately 100 members of the Alma College Glee Clubs, College Chorale and Alma Choir, directed by Will Nichols and accompanied by pianist Tony Patterson and select instrumentalists, will present the 2018 Festival of Carols at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Remick Heritage Center, Presbyterian Hall.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up and youth 18 and under, and free for Alma College faculty, staff and students. Seating is reserved. Call (989) 463-7304 for ticket information.

The program will include “For Unto Us a Child is Born” from Handel’s Messiah and the African-American spiritual “Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning,” along with “Carol of the Bells” “Gesu Bambino,” “Silent Night” and many more.
