Bill Klenk coached, taught and mentored hundreds of students in his nearly 30 years at Alma College. He returns to campus to serve as the grand marshal of the 2018 homecoming parade.
His many roles at Alma included professor of physical education, athletic director, head coach for baseball and men’s and women’s basketball, and assistant football coach. He was inducted into the Alma College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975. Klenk Park, home of the Scots baseball team, is named in his honor.
He also is a charter member of the TKE Chapter Alumni Association and was one of the three founders of the Baseball Endowment Fund program.
“I have been totally dedicated as an alumnus and employee to the continued success and growth of Alma College, assisting in any way possible and whenever called upon to serve,” says Klenk, class of 1959. “I owe my personal and professional success to the wonderful education and support I got at Alma College.”
He continues to stay involved with Alma Athletics as host of the annual Klenk Open golf outing. In 2017, he received the Campus Involvement Ambassador of the Year Award for his ongoing support for Alma College athletics and student engagement.
Alma’s homecoming celebration takes place Sept. 28-30, with the parade scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
