Staff members Melinda Booth, Brent Neubecker, Annalyse Hargraves and Katie Yourchock are commended for their efforts in fund-raising and student recruitment.
President Jeff Abernathy has identified Melinda Booth and Brent Neubecker in Advancement and Annalyse Hargraves and Katie Yourchock in Admissions as “Great Scots” for “outstanding work in their respective areas.”
Booth and Neubecker led Advancement efforts in accomplishing this year’s record-breaking results for the annual giving program — surpassing an ambitious $1.4 million goal and achieving a 70 percent increase over the 10-year average. Donors to the annual giving program supported academic and athletic programs at substantially higher levels over the 10-year average, achieving a 135 percent increase in academic program support and a 229 percent increase for the Scot Loyalty Fund for Athletics.
“This extraordinary fund-raising success cannot be achieved without an attention to detail and a dedication to institutional relationship building — skills that both Melinda and Brent possess,” wrote Abernathy in his monthly campus update.
In Admissions, Hargraves has achieved two straight outstanding recruitment years, beating her goal both years. Around 20 percent of this year’s freshmen class comes from her recruitment territory.
“She also has provided leadership and oversight of our campus recruitment events to ensure a positive experience for our visitors and internal partners,” wrote Abernathy.
Yourchock also has exceeded her recruitment goals in each of the past two years and nearly doubled the five-year average from northern Michigan. She also oversees the campus tour program, manages work studies and implements new training and evaluation tools to measure each.
President Abernathy periodically presents the Great Scot Award to members of the faculty and staff for “excellence in service to Alma College.”
