James T. McIntyre, class of 1969, returns to campus to serve as the grand marshal of the Alma College 2017 homecoming parade.

A member of the Alma College Board of Trustees from 1983 until his retirement earlier this year, McIntyre has continued a family legacy of supporting the growth of the college and its physical campus, which includes McIntyre Mall and the McIntyre Center for Health Science.

The James T. McIntyre Scholar House, home of the Delta Gamma Tau fraternity, was dedicated at homecoming 2016. The basketball court in Art Smith Arena is named The C.S. and Marion McIntyre Foundation Court.

“The McIntyre family and Alma College have been partners for more than 50 years, and it’s impossible to imagine what Alma College would look like without the commitment of Charles and Jim McIntyre and the McIntyre Foundation,” says Jeff Abernathy, president at Alma College. “Jim’s leadership and financial support have made an impact and created a wonderful legacy.”

Charles McIntyre, James’ father, was a member of the Alma College Board of Trustees from 1952 until his death in 1982.

Alma’s homecoming celebration takes place Sept. 29-Oct. 1, with the parade scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.
